Your gasoline is only 2.63/gal?!!!!?????
The diesel is about 55 cents cheaper over there then on the east coast. Also the gas is about 60 cents cheaper.
I still dont mind, fuel is fuel and ill still buy the same amount every day, id say ill stay that way until 3.80/gallon, then id simply start driving slower, my average speed always has been and probably always will be the inverse of the fuel price.
Commenting on the subject of energy generation, ill pull a breif on my position on it. I am neutral about nuclear power, until I heard of sites such as the Hanford nuclear facility, I wouldnt wanna be living near that. Over on long island, NY we have the Shoreham Nuclear power plant, which was a power plant completed in the 80's and hasnt been open one day, it was built and disagreement with the locals forced them to close the plant before it even opened.
So I have never really seen negative effects of nuclear plants. There is a research place on LI with a couple of reactors, increased cancer rates in my area, im not too sure if its from the research place, or lawrence aviation about 5 minutes away from my home, which is now a superfund site because sombody was dumping something toxic, and it was a whole lot of it.
Alot of the power on the east coast comes from hydroelectric power, from the niagara river and power generation there. I think hydroelectric is the greatest way to get power, its not what people call an "eyesore" and has no major effects on the environment.
Windmills are good too, I dont think they will be sprouting up, but I have absolutely no problem with them.
Since im on a roll here, I feel that trucking is a vital key to transportation in America. I believe in trucking for just about every load that needs to be moved, with the exception of heavier items, such as ores, coal, metals, cars. Mainly because the trucks have to adhere to weight limitations on the road, something like 150k/lbs for a double, and 75k for a single. (correct me if im wrong)
I think that heavy loads should be put on trains, and all the normal stuff should be shipped via truck/trailer.
Now thats one hell of a 2 cents for me, im exhausted
