Alarm Lock Trilogy Exit Trim ETDL/ETPDL & Schlage FSIC tips

Before I forget this stuff again, I'm going to put these notes here so I can find them.

When installing the Trilogy exit trim ETDL/ETPDL, and using the cylinder adapter kit ET-SIC for Schlage FSIC:
  1. Use a Schlage FSIC rim cylinder, 20-079 or equivalent.
  2. Remove and throw away the rim cylinder's "guts": retainer e-clip, tailpiece bar & FSIC driver. Only the bare housing is used.
  3. Install the ET-SIC kit's spacer washer under the FSIC cylinder's plug retainer cap.
  4. Use the kit's cap retaining pin, where possible. The FSIC cylinder plug retaining cap pin in the kit is steel, .105" dia., and will not fit in some FSIC plugs with the .095" pin. In that case, you have to re-use the Schlage pin I suppose.
  5. De-burr the adapter plate. The spindle needs to insert far enough to expose the retaining clip groove when installed.
  6. For the rim cylinder screws, use GMS screws SCR-2 instead of the Alarm Lock screws.
  7. Add a wave washer (in addition to the two plastic spacers) under the head of the rim cyl. housing, or the collar will rattle.
None of this is spelled out in the ET-SIC kit's instructions, though the kit comes with a beautiful glossy two-page poster full page of pictures and arrows. Below are links to the PDFs for the kit plus the addendum for gears alignment.

C. FSIC spacer

F. Use GMS rim cylinder screws
The Alarm Lock screw heads are .276" dia. and when you tighten them the heads deform the cylinder adapter plate HW1063 and the screws can be pulled through the adapter and allow the rim cyl. housing to fall off the front entirely.

The GMS screws are .310" dia. Part No. SCR-2 (pack of ten: SCR-2-10). I pay $10 for a pack of ten from KDL.

A "standard" 12-24 screw head is ~.421" and even if you could grind it smaller, it would interfere with the spindle.

The ETDL/ETPDL/DL3500/PDL3500 etc. battery pack is S6174 and uses smaller gauge wires and smaller connectors for the battery than the DL27/28/3000 series.

It's very easy to break off a wire to that connector. I've had it happen just leaving the battery dangling on the door while I work on the other side.

To repair the pack, replace that connector. Get them from Mouser.com (or equivalent).

* RECEPTACLE 2 POS DUAL ROW, Molex 43025-0200, 3mm, Mouser No. 538-43025-0200, $0.41 ea.

* FEMALE TERM 20-24, Molex 0-0007, Mouser No. 538-43030-0007, $0.28 ea.

You need one receptacle and two terminals to repair one battery pack.
