Not exactly sure on this one as not sure what type of pump the CD engines have.

There are not a lot of guys here that have CD Nissans, however, if we knew what type of pump it had we might be able to direct you in the right direction. You say you were messing with the engine. What exactly did you mess with?

IF the vehicle has the VE style pump the FSM for the SD25 with the VE style pump states:
Loosen vent air screw located just below the primer pump.
Move priming pump up and down until no further air bubbles come out of vent screw
Tighten vent screw
IF ENGINE WILL NOT START LOOSEN INJECTION TUBES AT NOZZLES AND CRANK ENGINE UNTIL FUEL OVERFLOWS FROM INJECTIONS TUBES. TIGHTEN INJECTION TUBE FLARE NUTS.

HTH

both types of pump.
use the hand pump unti it returns fuel to the tank.

i normally loosen one of the top injector pipes.using the air rises therory.

sometimes i have to loosed of the nonretun valve under that hose.with the pump in a possition that is not injecting the fuel should pump though with the hand pump.

the electronic pump is an electric thottle.on top but the main parts of the pump are te same.

there are internal strainer filters in the fuel inlet on some, and the shut off solinoid needs power

I got it running again...
Had to pump the hand primer ontop of the filter with the petcock open on the bottom with a jar of diesel in it. Pump until the bubbles are blurping out strong then close the petcock. Undo the feed line to the pump and operate the hand pump until the bubbles are out then quickly plug it back up. Turn the engine over with the key and pump the primer. The engine started.
