Discuss (and cuss) the Nissan LD-series OHC Six diesel engine, popularly available in the US in 1981-83 Datsun/Nissan Maxima Sedans & Wagons.

New Member, needs FSM

Just joined, and just acquired a LD28 engine and auto trans. Thinking over what I want to repower with it. My last swap was a Isuzu 2.2 into a '28 Chevy coupe. Ended up a little lacking in power, so put a Eaton (roots type) blower on it.

One of the first things that I need desperately is a factory shop manual.
Checked Ebay the last couple weeks, but didn't see any. Any members have an extra that they would be willing to sell?

That's a great asset

Thank you!!

I would still like to obtain the whole "82 manual to help with identifying where the various hoses etc went on the donor car. Also info on the automatic trans- unless that is covered in Al's download.

Again, thanks to you both--

Datsun/Nissan 810 FSM for LD28-

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/1981-Dat ... 27be1fb921

Datsun/Nissan 810 FSM, covers rest of the car (transmission, drivetrain, electrics etc.)

I shouldn't worry about the year, 81-82 is much the same.

Thanks Minimog for the Fleabay links, but one of the reasons that I want a FSM is for automatic transmission info, and from what I understand reading here the 82 trans is a lockup, the 81 is not.

Got my "new" engine running, and and have a headgasket on the way,
just in case. Looking it over to see what unnecessary (to my needs) items I can remove- I realized that my crankshaft pulley damper is missing its outer ring.

Anyone have a spare that they would be willing to sell? Failing that, could someone tell me the OD, of the outer ring--and if is stepped what both diameters are. I will then make up a new ring and a fixture to insure concentricity, remove the old rubber and recast with urethane-- but hoping to avoid all that work.

Still watching fleabay for an '82 FSM
