IP Timing: The unavailable KV11229352 timing tool

Post by Duaneclark »

I've found this tool, and it's available still to all of us. After some research, I found the exact tool, with the exact Nissan part number at SPX Special Service Tools, (Kent Moore), in Europe. However that entity will not sell to the United states. OK, then looking at the older 1981 SM, KV 11229352 is listed, with the Kent Moore number in parenthesis blank. But in the 1983 SM the Kent Moore number is J-28827. SPX Bosch Kent Moore informed me that J-28827 is superceded by J-29763. This number is used to set rear axle adjustment on 1998 and up GM trucks. It's available new from SPX in the USA for $250, but I've found them on E-Bay for much less. So apparently J-29763 is KV 11229352 now. I also had this verified by a tool seller on E-Bay, he listed the purpose and use of J-29763 and also had the Nissan part number for it as the KV 11229352.

Thanks for that excellent info. The SPX site does list the tool; ebay doesn't have anything right now.

Cheers,

I'm not positive but anyone is interested I know a family currently across the pond, that would probably order these and send them over. If there is interest (can't find US supplier) and we make a single order I'm sure they wouldn't mind doing this. He is actually a hydraulics engineer for CAT (-epillar) and would sympathize with our cause I'm sure. Logistics would be the worst part, let me know and we'll cross that bridge then.

The unavailable KV11229352

My lengthy story rambles about, but to recap, KV11229352 is still the number used in Europe, but SPX in the United States has superceded that number with the J29763 , still available new and used. I guess if someone would purchase the European model, it could be compared with the U.S. model to verify if they are identical.

Injection pump timing device

This is a old subject, if you go back to the discussions about timing the pump, the official Nissan tool has not been available, but this tool is supposed to be the correct tool to set the injection pump timing. Duane

OK. I've added some clues in the topic title. You, as the OP, should be able to edit the topic title as well, if you feel I've done a poor job.

Thanks for illustrating this tool properly. My shortsight was assuming that everyone was keeping their eyes open for this to show up and KV11229352 was memorized by every LD28 owner. We probably gave up the search years ago.

I almost never read threads here anymore, and while I once knew that tool number, it is now a null reference to me :(

At any rate, someone reading the site as a newbie wouldn't have a clue what you were talking about, and while I guessed that's what you meant, I wasn't sure ;)

You're correct, anyone new would be lost. Thanks again for this great resource, a lot of these cars wouldn't be on the road if we didn't have this forum to help us.

There are no good, cheap tools these days. And a precision, specialty tool like this . . . I'm surprised it's not $500.
