LD 28 head gaskets

Fooling around on a cold weather day, and doing some search's online, I don't see any availability of the LD 28 head gasket. I have two Victor Reinz part numbers, 3996 and 3998, not sure why the two numbers, one gasket has one groove, the 3998 has 3 grooves. But looking at many parts outlets, I don't see any availability. Haven't checked Nissan. Can anyone comment?

Head Gaskets are sort of a sticky wicket with these engines. The grooves relate to the difference thickness of the gaskets. I am not fully clear on the need for the difference thicknesses, whether its due to manufacturing tolerances, applications, etc. someone on here will know better than I. I do know that it is a way to increase/decrease the pressure in the combustion chamber. I also know that you shouldn't take the head apart w/o having a gasket or at least a suitable alternative (custom copper, etc.) Let me know what you come up with.

I sent an inquiry to the company in the link submitted by buddabeast, so far no answer, will try again. I did find a source, (maybe), they only offered one variety, and I ordered a couple, I'll let everyone know after they arrive and see if they are correct.

It's an old post but still valid. I talked to a sales rep. at Gasket Specialties and he told me that they would manufacture any head gasket to customers spec. They need an old gasket as a sample. A bulk order would lower the price/pc.

This is good information, didn't know about "Gasket Specialties" I inquired with "Olson"s Gaskets", a regular advertiser in Hemmings, and they said they could produce the gasket, but all of their available thickness's were way off. Also see my unanswered post about the gaskets that I do have, but have no idea as to their thickness.
