ok, so is there even a remote possibility that i can take a 4x4 trans, and swap a 2wd tail shaft and housing into the case?

i have a good 4x4 trans, and a WRECKED 2wd diesel trans.

do i have to find a 2wd specific trans?

or do i just swap the diesel bell housing on the 4x4 trans, get an extended cab drive line, and shorten it?

or do i swap the 2wd tail shaft and housing onto the 4x4? is it possible?
