Sadly the SD Engine parts are becoming...NLA

I put an order in for some engine parts for my new 83 Nissan SD-25 Long Bed PU. Got it from the original owner, but as time went on, he didn`t keep on the maintenance as he should. So Iam catching up on deferred maintenance and or neglect and abuse. :>((

I came across this on line vendor that handles Nissan parts, and put in an order for a few things.

Well at least the Bypass Hose and the Oil Cooler Coolant hose are still in stock. I have the originals on the engine. They are as hard as a old piece of Bakalite..

Still amazing some of these parts are still available after 30 years.

Some of these complete engine gasket kits I see on E-Bay, may have all the gaskets that are NLA from the Dealer network.


Last June I was pulling the SD-22 Engine/Trans out of the 82 King-Cab. Thought I had everything disconnected. Dumb Arse here forgot to disconnect the Throttle cable at the engine Buttery Fly Gizmo. well the cable got stretched. :>(
No problem, just order one. well another part that is NLA.

The one for a Gasser will work, though about twice as long.

The Rubber Boot on the floor the shift lever goes through is...NLA.
Found a new one in PNP. :>))

Don`t have the part #`s for these last two.

All of those parts are something you can at next autopartshop and you can make the gasket with gasket material and a ball hammer. so no worries.

Parts finally came in a couple days ago, a total of only four.

01351-22104 Gasket. (actually a Copper "O" Ring.)

21200-58G05 Thermostat. (Around $14, dealer price is about $28)

21308-10G10 Water Hose for Oil Cooler. (J Hose)

B1069-61500 Water Hose, By-pass Hose.

Checked with the Dealer and the guy said the hoses are NLA. Maybe I got the last two ;>))

you're not kidding about parts becoming tough to get! I am looking for a head gasket, Nissan does not have them, and cannot get them (at $119!!!).
Local parts stores cant get them, looking at entire motor gasket set, parts store(s) took my # and "will get back to me."

The Nissan dealer recommended I check with Helmar (forklift supply):

Briefly looking at their website, their prices are great but you need to know the part #, as well as know for certain that the forklift part is the same as the 720 sd22.

Nissan has always been the worst manufacturer as far as parts support. For years I drove Nissan Patrols, loved them, still feel that they were the best built small 4x4 made.
Getting parts through Nissan was a joke.

Head gaskets for sd22, sd23 and sd25 no longer available through nissan. Still have can get Chinese gaskets ...probably better off making your own ...

Looks like you will have to click on engine mechanical on the left for the Head gasket.
