Hey CL, selling my 1982 Datsun 720. SD22 Diesel/5speed manual. Longbed/regular cab. I just put in a new starter. Its smog exempt because of the year & diesel. Clean title, registered until January. I'll be fixing a few other things this week.

In short,
Good: Decent tires, gets about 40mpg, SMOG exempt, super simple to work on, new starter, full size spare, straight frame.
Bad: Cracked windshield, needs alignment, no keys for doors, some rust.
Other: Body has some dings and the seat/dash top are a little rough.
Asking $2100.

1981 Datsun / Nissan Diesel 720 Pickup lots of new parts and low miles - $3300 (Portland

I'm selling my 1981 Datsun Diesel 720 King Cab pickup, it is a 2wd, 5 speed manual transmission, with only 187k miles on it. This is the same truck as the Nissan 720 pickup and has the SD22 Nissan Diesel engine which is an industrial engine and it is bullet proof, these things run great! The truck has Air Conditioning (which is extremely rare for a truck of this vintage), a new starter, new battery, new ball joints, new tie rods, new brake pads, new fuel filters, new oil filter and oil, new windshield wipers, just had a front end alignment done, runs like a top and only smokes at start up. The truck has new seat covers, a ski/snowboard/gear rack, and a bed liner as well. It currently has studded tires all the way around but I can throw in some non studded tires if necessary. The paint is in ok condition but has a few rust spots, if someone wanted to repaint this truck it would easily last another 3 decades. Super fuel efficient at around 40 MPG and it runs on bio diesel, overall a fun truck to drive! Email with any questions or to look at the truck. Thanks!

Runs like a dream! Rolled it unfortunately. Needs new cab or pull motor and put it in something else. Has about 140,000 miles and is a super reliable truck. Google the datsun motors for this year. You won't find one bad thing about them, made of solid cast iron and simple to work on...if you ever have to work on them. Which is a rare thing if you do have to work on the diesel motors.When I rolled it it landed right side up and I drove it home. Needs new cab to be a daily driver. Very hard to come by truck. Don't text me with BS questions like does it run, will you tke 500 etc....it's been rolled. Just needs a new cab and you would be set. I work full time and go to school. So I don't have the time. Has a extremely heavy duty 2x3 steel tubed flat bed on the back with fat rat rod tires. truck got lots of compliments when I was driving it. 541-228-8442

The rust is the worst just behind the hood. There are some holes there. Also, the hood hinges are not attached to the truck body. The thermostats are $10 at the store, so I'll probably have one in by the weekend. The best offer I've gotten so far is $1000. I'd like to get it around $1500 but I need to move this vehicle. Truck had a newer oil filter and fuel to engine. Not sure what it weighs will work on that. This is a item that i decided to gamble on. I thought this engine was neat. I will list it one more time. I do not have the space to set up and see if it runs. I will list for 7 more days if it does not sale will take back to wrecking yard. I am guessing on weight so i will get exact weight. Is listed locally could end early. Good luck

I went to order the SD23 from JDM. They quoted me $800.00 shipping to a loading dock on a major interstate!

they have the same motor listed on their website as "free shipping" in the lower 48. I decided not to order from them as I feel if they are that misleading on shipping, they are likely misleading on other things.

the second reason being their return policy; they offer a replacement motor if the first is not good, but you pay for shipping.
sooooo, $800 for shipping to take a chance that the second motor is better?

buyer, beware.
