I ran across this topic in my Jeep forum today and found some info I had not seen before, that looks promising.

small versions of these are made by do it yourself kits.i see these on large 4X4.
some of the owners claim big [unbelievable] improvements.as the units are the size of a gallon tin i not got too interested,but i see the unit in the light truck was about the same size.i often wonder how much electricity is needed to produce gas.a truck can run a very large alternator and battery with out much losses,a simple controler could turn it and other extras off when engine power are required for other needs.you cant do this on a small car.a clever engine uses a alternator as a flywheel to smooth out the power flows.

i would believe 10% claimed in the web site.as its very easy to pick up 10-20% in a factory tune.production test cars often have to be 20% better than required emission specs to allow for mass production problems.

I think the prior discussions were about using propane. This one is about using hydrogen instead of propane, and secondly about using an onboard electrolysis system to generate hydrogen and oxygen from the electrolysis of water and feeding them to the intake manifold.

The discussion where I posted this was to do with fuel prices. (there is a second video there to do with salt water as well)
I wonder if these units that are described in the articles you mention are versions of, or use the same process that is described in the unit in the video?

$160 DI water to hydrogen/oxygen generator from this guy, and he is also dabling with a thermo generator that uses peltier effect semiconductors to convert waist heat from the muffler into 12 V DC to run the hydrogen generator, so no load on the engine!!!!

Waste heat from the radiator might be used as well for the thermo generator considering the heat capacity of the water coolant system. Might even use the water coolant to cool and drive the performance of the muffler mounted thermo generator.

From what I have read in the links I posted here it (supplemental feed of hydrogen ) works great on diesels already!

Thermoelectric Generator (TEG) for Heavy Diesel Trucks

John C. Bass, Aleksandr S. Kushch, Norbert B. Elsner, Hi-Z Technology, Inc., San Diego, California, U.S.A.

Abstract

An improved TEG for the Heavy Duty Class Eight Diesel Trucks is under development at Hi-Z Technology. Previous efforts were focused on TEG prototype development, fabrication and testing. The prototype was able to generate about 1kW of electrical power from the Cummins NTC 350 Diesel engine exhaust but exhibited mechanical degradation during the subsequent road test due to module movement. The current TEG is designed to be equipped with the improved HZ-14 Thermoelectric (TE) modules, which features better mechanical properties; also, the modules are securely held in place.
The TEG is comprised of 72 TE modules (9 in one array, 8 parallel circuits), which are capable of producing 1kW of electrical power at 12 V DC during nominal engine operation. This device utilizes an engine coolant to cool the cold side of the modules. The hot side of the modules is placed on the octagonal shaped surface of the adjacent side of the Diesel exhaust heat exchanger. The center body of the heat exchanger directs incoming exhaust flow that interfaces with the internal heat exchanger fins in order to optimize the heat transfer and deliver the maximum energy to the TE modules.

Currently the upgraded generator has completed testing in a test cell and later will be tested on a Diesel truck under typical road and environmental conditions. It is expected that the TEG will be able to replace or augment the existing shaft driven alternator, resulting in significant fuel saving or to generate additional power that is required by the truck's

it quotes 30-40 amp@ 12V.in most 4X4 they can handle that.the kits ive seen have a single cell and glass bottle[old glycol bottles].it recomended 3-4.iit mentions 3 psi fan i guess that its like a exhauste reactor fan.

i like the idea of the heat cell electric generator.i had it in mind that is was like the pilot light on a gas heater and possitioned into the flame.

a catalist/convertor produces lots of heat,much more than water.it talks about using any heat source.

recently CSIRO[australian government] had a display on TV news of a soldiers battle suit to charge up batteries used by our army.i may have seen this story as a ALT energy center is based locally.it used movement and heat.

hunter valley being a large coal and electricty exporter and newcastle university is a bulk handling specialist.

they have items like transperant solar cells-you can use as windows,.they have a roadside display of all sorts that is use for corosion testing and mirror durability.a big early fuss about wind farms looks to have been junked and thermol storage is what they look to be doing.

they have bought a/c compressors to destroy as thermol pumps.they do store gasses and release as needed.

they arnt going to tell me what they are doing,some ideas ive seen are wallyland but you never know as they do work long term at this level.
