Note: This tranny is specifically spec'ed for the 810. It is the type "FS5W71B" which is the same tranny used for the '77-'78 280Z or the '79-'83 280ZX. Do more research if you want to buy this for your 280Z or 280ZX. There may be clutch and tail housing fit issues.

Looking at FAST and the paper catalog, the bellhousing is the same part No. for L24 and LD28, though the overall transmission is a different number (several component part Nos. differ). I think this trans would probably bolt up to either engine (more or less: the front brg cover is a different No. between the two engines).

32010-V3000 is a valid Maxima number.

I'm not sure what would be different between the maxima and z-zx trans. The shift lever ears looks like an 81-83 zx tranny. Maybe the gear ratios are different in the later maxima 5 spds compared to the zx 5 spd.

diesel trans tend to have cast steel/iron? front bearing cover.
a modification occured at some point to use latter model big bearings.
the trans is a NMCA type 5 casting-nissan motor corp australia-australian 910 had larger bearings from the type C trans.

the constant gear should have a spring loaded gear arrangement on lower shaft to reduce rollover rattle.

some trans have different ratio depending on sale destonation.
4 and 6 cyl trans can often be mixed up.

starter bolts can be threaded [petrol] or drilled
ive had some with one of each.
the drilled types can have a long boss needing a long bolt/nut to be used.
the latter LD20II starters are often threaded and impossible to get 2 bolts in the early bell housings.

I paid for the tranny on tuesday and reieved it today on friday (fedex)

Well I got the tranny all installed perfect fit, nice and smooth. Feels good to have my nissan going again. Now getting ready to take it it Puerto Penasco Mexico for a week stay on the beach and drink Coronas

well we made it to rocky point with no problem and back 3,000 miles total 22-35 mpg (windy) the little maxi ran like a champ :D
