Found a source for LD28 gaskets in New Zealand

Hello all,

T'is been a while since I have logged on. Busy with trying to eek a living in the middle of a recession. Kind of been an interesting time of it.

I have recently found a source for LD28 gaskets here in NZ if anyone is interested.

Permaseal make most of the gaskets for this engine. Exchange rate is still reasonable between USD and NZD so it is still in your guys favor if you have some greenbacks. As of today (29 Sept 09) one USD was buying 1.32 NZD.

Website details here http://www.nzgaskets.co.nz/catalogue/En ... ineID=1574for those interested.

Hope this may prove useful to someone. I have bought two manifold gaskets and a 1.25mm head gasket off them recently and the quality is as good as anything else I have used. Unfortunately they only make the 1.25mm head gasket. I guess if asked for a price they'd custom make any thickness or material but it'd come at a price.

Cheers,

Phil

Hi Phil. What is the availability of other spares in NZ, such as pistons, rings etc. I have also communicated with RT in Aus about this. In South Africa we never had the LD28, only the L28, of which many things except pistons and rings are interchangable.

G'day Mechiel,

I don't have a problem getting parts as I require them. We have an 'e-bay' equivalent called trademe (http://www.trademe.co.nz) and a quick search usng LD28 or LD 28 will produce a few items and with a regular checking I seem to keep my spares shelf stocked. The local Nissan dealership has provided me with gaskets when I have needed them and the local Bosch accredited diesel shop has been able to refurbish my injectors and pump easily enough off the shelf.

Whole engines in good mechanical state are getting harder to find but they're still out there. I can generally pick up a running engine for between NZD400-550. The crank pirates have been hitting trademe lately and getting as much for the crank as for a whole engine. Bit sad to see it happen but my pockets are no longer as deep as they once were due to the recession and working only part time.

Cheers,

Phil

I contacted them in regards to a front cover seal and unforutnately they do not export. She did put me in contact with another company she deals with that may be able to help. They do have many of the gaskets though. Gordo
