Desperately need valve spring retainer collet

I dropped half of the collet while changing the valve stem seals. I work over a concrete slab, yet still can't find it. All of the passages on top of the engine are stuffed with rags so it didn't go down into the engine. The whole thing was throughly degreased so it is easy to check all of the nooks and crannies. Nothing.

I have since tried the dealer - no longer available. I got no response from Jesco parts. Any spares out there? Does anyone know if there is a "good enough" substitute from another engine? I hate to have to get one machined.

Check with your local Nissan fork lift dealer/repair shop they may have one
