Cylinder Liner Projection

SD diesels were widely available in the US in the 1981-86 Datsun/Nissan 720 pickups, and in Canada through '87 in the D21 pickup.

Has anyone ever seen shims to adjust the liner projection (0.02 - 0.09mm is the book #'s) if the liner is too low?

I know other diesels have them, but I have not sen a part # for them.

No. But that doesn't mean shims can't be used. Is there a problem?

A guy on the Binder Bulletin got a rebuilt engine, but he found one liner is low.

Low cylinder liner results in coolant leak

Not good. Time for customer service. If he's just got to deal with it I would pull out the liner and mike everything to determine the problem. I'd buy a new liner if the old one was short and I'd have a gasket shop cut an appropriate shim if the block fillister is too deep. Only the piston in the offending cylinder needs to be removed, and the whole operation can be done without pulling the motor.

I was hoping to find a part # for the shims.
