Is is AYCE, or is it short stack? Last year, according to Philip, it was free short stack.

For free AYCE, I might find an excuse to be near an IHOP next week -- well, probably not, but it's a nice thought.

From 7 a.m. to 10 p.m., we’ll give you one free short stack (three) of our famous buttermilk pancakes.* All we ask is that you consider making a donation to support local children’s hospitals through Children’s Miracle Network, or other local charities.

* There is a limit of one free short stack per guest. The offer is valid at participating restaurants for dine-in only while supplies last and is not valid with any other offer, special coupon or discount.

The "IHOP Locator" says there's an IHOP a mere 29 mi. east of me -- that's as the crow flies. Puget Sound isn't laid out like that. When you click on "Driving directions", it fesses up with 53 mi. and 1:40 minutes -- that does not include the actual transit time on the Kingston-Edmonds ferry.

It would take me much of a day to get there and back.

Ferry fare (car + driver) is $11.55 (each way).

I don't think I'll be participating this year. There is a price to be paid for living in paradise, and this month the price is free pancakes (while supplies last).
