83' diesel sedan near Daytona Florida

Buy it, sell it, negotiate, haggle, drag it out from under the workbench or behind the garage and make it someone else's problem!

83' diesel sedan near Daytona Florida

#1

Post by shark »

I have an 83' diesel sedan in good shape over near Daytona Florida. I bought the car end of last year for a biodiesel (never ran biodiesel in the car) project. The car was running good with an injection pump leak. Except for a faded repaint job the exterior is great. No rust or dents and all glass and lenses are good. The interior is rough but I did buy a newer pair of front seats in ok shape.

I have pulled the IP out and purchased all parts to fix including service manuals. (thanks for all the help Al) All I can tell the car needs is an IP rebuild and belts.

I am going back to school and may not have the time or money to work on the car for some time. I am not putting the car for sale on ebay or parting out, but am posting here for those who are dedicated to the diesel Maximas. If someone else here is interested in taking over I would be willing to part with the Maxima for a little less then what I have into it, about $350 or so. Give me a call or shoot me an email if interested (386)689-7119 apool@port-orange.org

Due to wife-nancial difficulties, I can't purchase the above Maxima, but I think it would be a gem for a project car towards a daily driver. Here are the photos that were sent to me, please email the seller if you're interested!

Is it just me, or does the glass look funny? Almost frosted or something? Rainwater - I think.

... mentally calculating where I'd put another one...

East TN people are not scared of radiation - we have Oak Ridge. Proudly glowing since WWII.

It just didn't look right to me somehow, but, yes, I guess it is water. Trying to find a reason to not want it. Having to retime the puppy because the pump is out works pretty well and if I could add screwed up windows to the list, I'd be good.

Yes it is just water. I took the picture just as a little rain passed through. The glass is good. I was driving the truck with the wipers on so it looks normal.

Little more info:

This car was owned by a man who sold it to his adult daughter. I bought it from her when the pump started leaking.

1983 has the better oil filter system and the best automatic trans w/OD.

That's an nice, low-miles rig. And it still has three of the alloy wheel centre caps!

Unfortunately, putting the IP back in and properly timing it is not simple.

Nice looking car, I like the color.

It appears to only have two alloy center caps though, only the rears.

It's certainly nicer than some I've seen, a recent visit to a 1980 Audi 5000 D that hadn't run in 9 years for $1k comes to mind.

someone needs to buy this.
