"Bacho:" DO NOT start futzing with the Smokescrew before one is SURE the pneumatic diaphragm and associated to it is "good" and operativing ... before you start changing the Smokescrew!!asavage wrote:You know, to prevent people from "accidentally" turning it. Which, come to think of it, is not usually a good idea. Clever, those Japanese.Knucklehead wrote:It's the one with the wire seal and lock nut on it.

Update time
No mods to IP,
7-9 PSI depending on the temperature of the day, cold day = more PSI.
800 degrees avg on the pyro, tops at about a 1000 after some hard driving.
Water temp, maxes at 190 with 180 avg.
26.7 mpg so far driving it like the devil, I am sure 30 is easily obtainable if I wasnt trying to see the limits of the turbo all the time.
I still want to turn up the fuel a little to give it a little more, I figure I have about 150 degrees on the pyro before any issues.

Played with the smoke screw today and removed atitude compensator. Ended up with 1.25 turns out to try for now, will see if the EGT stays within reason for normal driving. It is a big improvement though, 5th gear is useable and it can hold 45mph up a hill. I can also smoke some people too

Talk about getting smoked-
- My gasser smokes like a diesel at high rpm. ( I wish I had a diesel ) I really do, I love smoking people out. The oil burning keeps me happy though, stinks better
-Today I got smoked by a 80's mazda, one of these puppies,
I saw this guy weaving thru the lanes with all that not nice driving and we wound up at the light together, and he was all revving his motor, and I was thinking it was time to lay down the law and take this baby 4 door with my slightly larger 4 door. So I let it down when the light turned green, and by the time I hit 2nd gear he was about 2 car lengths ahead of me. I think I got seriously smoked by a 4 banger!
At least this might prompt me to finally tune up my motor, she dosent run well at all anymore, bogs out from 1-2k rpm, occasional rich burning black smoke.
I had to write something, I hardly beat on the maxima and the only time I do I lost
Chevy small block conversion?

When there's diesel smokin' clouds ... I don't need no stinkin' EGT to tell me the engine's wrong!Knucklehead wrote:Is that smoke as in leave in the dust or suffocate?

Not true. Even on 25 degree, the only smoke my SD22 does is a single black puff on start. After that, white intermittent puffs are due to misfires from cylinder cold, aggravated by too much rpm until it warms (can be a couple minutes).bacho wrote:Just a lite dust smoke just like all other diesels. My truck has a side pipe though so I already had filled up a car with white smoke on a cold start, now I can do a little about people in convertibles.
