During the mid/late 1990 Toyota trucks, there were defected lower ball joints. They had slotted nuts. The problem was ... the seal grease leaked out over time. And then one day ....
1: (these photos occured in an up graded mountain road at 35 mph about 2 minutes when I was coming down the road.)

3: (The truck had 165,000 miles on it).
4: (Toyota STILL has a recall on those trucks ... free charge.)
This liquid is brake fluid. Notice how dry and rusty the ball is.
