Does anybody have the oil change capacities for the L24e?
I gave the manual to the buyer of my 1984.
I've got this L28et with L24e pan in my infiniti M30 and am now doing my first oil change so it's time to mark the new dipstick "full" line.....but I don't know if the capacity of the L24e pan is smaller than the L28et.
The pan does seem to taper more than the L28et pan so I want to get it right.
First generation maxima mounts had perfect front to back dimensions but were a bit too tall so I cut them down but the rest of the swap went like the car was designed to fit the engine.
L28et turbo elbow cleared steering easily as well.
I use 4 qts in the pan and about 1/2 qt in the filter, when using a 1 qt filter. I think yours might take a little more possibly to fill the turbo plumbing.
Strangely, the factory 280zx manual specifies 4 3/4 quarts but I always found oil level slightly low on the stock setup.
I'll go with the higher figure and just lower it if I run into any problems.
I wouldn't have had to ask but, when changing the engine from rear to front sump, I shied away from using the front dipstick boss and drilled a hole in the block in a slightly different area and used a Mr. Gasket chrome stick.
One thing about the Mr. Gasket chrome sticks.
Grind all the chrome off the stick itself since it will come off in flakes anyway.
