Fusible link size

81 720 std cab. Replaced the failed fusible link wire from the battery to the GP relay with 14 ga. fusible link wire.

While the GP are heating this wire gets very hot! The "crimped slide together connectors" also get hot.

Should I use bigger fusible link wire? What size?

Anybody ever use an "in line fuse" instead of the fusible link wire? If so, what size would it take to handle the 4 GPs?

Thanks.

Check for resistance due to poor connections at the crimps. Resistance causes heat.

Wire gauge

IMHO. 14gauge wire is much to light for the glow plug circuit. I just rewired mine and used 8 gauge with good results.

Andy - Did you use 8 gauge "fusible link" wire or plain 8 gauge wire?

Thanks.
