Speaking of body work, I have a short bed on this thing. I have a friend who has a 1980 long bed gasser & the motor is blown. I think I could pick the whole thing cheap but was wondering if the long bed would fit? I really would prefer a long bed...

Take a look in the first chapter or two in your Factory Service Manual, where you will find all the body and chassis dimensions.

Notice the extra frame mount under the bed near the cab. I must confess this not a subject I've researched much as I own a King Cab.

Yea, right, what "factory service manual"?
OK, so there's another thing I need...
Thanks,

Go get one, now!
Seriously, you can't do without a FSM. In particular, it's impossible to deal with IPC and GP system woes without it, and they're cheap.

Guess I didn't trip to the link for the FSM soon enough

Oh well.
Philip, I did look at the copy of the book Al has on line & it shows that the long bed won't fit on a short bed frame... So I guess I'll just put up with the short bed & like it!
