well yeah, starters do suck in a whole lotta amperage, generally over 200A if its not a compact engine. I was just throwing it out there, that you can power all the junk in your house, with the same AWG as the battery cables.
...unlike your Christmas lights, for example.

Last year my Christmas display could probably fry a set of 4/0 cables

The LD28 starter however is clocked exactly the same as the Gasser, but it has a larger output gear. So if installed it slams right into the ring gear and bounces off.
If that's the case, then if someone put a gasser starter in your LD, it might not engage. Even though I had what I thought was a gasser starter in my '83 Wagon, someone might have taken a gasser starter and put an LD drive on it.
