"New Posts" indicator not turning off

#1

Post by asavage »

When I log in, the forum software indicates that there are posts I haven't read (new ones, since last time I logged in) by changing the color of various forum/topic/post icons -- in my case, to orange.

When I read a new post, the software is supposed to turn those icons back to blue. Lately, the latter hasn't been happening for me: I read a new post, but when I look at the home page, the software still shows some orange icons for forums where I've read everything.

And it only happens to certain forums. The "SD2x diesel engines" forum is the one I know is not resetting. "Off-Topic" is still working OK. Not sure about the others.

Is anyone else having this problem?
Regards,
Al S.

I have only noticed the symptom you describe if I take a quick look and speed read a brief post. In other words, it seems to be time related. I'll start paying closer attention.

The problem seemed to be related to corrupted cookies. In both the browsers I use (at home, at work), I deleted the cookies for this site, then let them be re-created. The problem disappeared and hasn't reappeared in several weeks. Problem solved.
