'82 Maxima is going on the block

Buy it, sell it, negotiate, haggle, drag it out from under the workbench or behind the garage and make it someone else's problem!

'82 Maxima is going on the block

Post by rigger »

I'm going to send it to eBay in a few days with a BIN of $3500obo. I know - steep but I know a nicer example cannot be found and an equally nice example of a similar vintage VW diesel would command around $5500 or more so I know I'll find a new owner eventually. This car's condition could easily be compared to a car that is 3 or 4 years old.

Wife absolutely hates the car and b$%$%s at me daily to get rid of it.

Link to the car in question

man.....my stomach hurts over this.

Sorry to hear that you're forced to sell your car. What a nice example. Hopefully someone buys it that will give it the care it deserves.

I guess that I should feel lucky that my lady likes the good wagon and tolerates the other vehicles - even the new parts car.

A good reason I don't want to let it go cheap in someone who will pay for it will take care of it....in theory at least. I can sit on it if I don't get my price.

The vehicle will have no problem commanding that price. Be sure to post to eBay pictures of the paperwork too. Low-miles FL Maximas that are one- and two-owner have been selling above $3k consistently over the past three years (I've seen three). You might start at $3k and set the Reserve to $3.5k or $4k.

that car is nice and worth the $ in my opinion.

I had an 82 wagon back about 3 years ago that was in the same condition....one owner DOCUMENTED, super clean inside & out and 100% rust free and shinny original paint.

I made a very bad decision to sell it since I had two Mercedes 123 series diesel wagons at the time, but they were not as nice of condition as the maxi....

Someone from Seattle bought it from me of eBay for $3000 three years ago, flew down to south TX and drove it back. And I've regretted selling her ever since.

If I needed one, I wouldn't hesitate to go 3k on a car that nice. If it was an 83 wagon I'd hound you to death and it would never make it to Ebay.

SOLD - Should be sold to a fellow list member so I know it'll be taken care of - I hope. I'd much rather break even and know the car is going to someone who will take care of it than make money off of it to have someone cut it up to become a WVO car. (not that it's a bad thing as I have a WVO VW)

The car has too good of a history/records etc. to chop up.

I'd like to thank everyone for all the kind words.

Early bird got the worm and a quick forum member replied 15 minutes after the initial listing with intentions of being the new owner. He drove in this weekend (a considerable distance) and is now the proud 3rd owner of this car - trailered it back. I'm really glad it went to someone who will take care of it and appreciate it for the vehicle it is.

Whoever bought it is being awfully quiet about it.
