Water temperature sender thread

Hi would someone know what the water temperature sender thread is?
Also the oil pressure sender in the block would be handy. I have some gauges to install and would like to get any adapters if needed before I start.

Well, the standard reply is "it's in the FSM". Almost always worth the $25 or so to get one off ebay or the local version.

You have only the read-outs or do you have the senders also? You probably need the senders that go with the gauges and w/luck they're the same thread or smaller (which would take a bushing). I actually don't know if the FSM specs the thread of the senders, so if you have to know ahead of time you may need to visit a junk yard for a sample or wait until somebody else chimes in. Or you might try nissan's online parts catalog and see if you can cross reference your way into the specs.

If you can find someone with vdo catalog etc being south NZ someone will.
now if you look up online info remember that american 810 maxima LD28 wont be the same as a C32 laurel LD28 or a recent LD20II.

nissan changed water temp type in mid 80"s the old type had a tappered seat that the sender tightened up against,new one has a copper washer--intermediate age cars have a tappered thread.australian sorced modles may have flexdrive and VDO senders.

the good thing is oil pressure switches almost always have the same thread---its just the pressure to voltage thats different so a stadard dash can be used with different engines.

large dia sednder was 16mmX 1.5
non genuine has spade terminals.

and

newer type is 12mmX 1.25.

Taken the sender out and it's the newer type. It seems to work on the gauge although it goes to 40deg when I switch the ignition on. I'll try using it as I can't seem to find an adaptor.

Hi the gauges did come with senders but I need an adapter to adapter the smaller thread of the temperature sender to the larger threaded hole of the existing sensor.
I checked around town but no one has one and didn't offer to get one for me. One shop wanted to sell me a piece that fits into the radiator hose that will fit the new sensor. I'll try the old one as I'm doing and see how it goes. And if it's too inaccurate will look further into getting an adapter.

A "bushing" might do the job. A good hardware store should have a selection and if you're lucky you'll find the one.

This is water? or oil? Steel should work w/either but I'm not sure whether brass is OK w/oil. S/b cheap, buy an assortment and return what doesn't work. Might take the sender(s) so's to get at least one side correct right out of the box.

normally you get a bung and drill/thred the needed hole.

16mm dia X1.5 pitch is common-14 mm are spark plugs.

sender are normally 12mm or 1/8 gas-these are common plumbing items.
often seen 2 brass items soldered together.
