For Sale: 1981 Datsun 720 diesel King-Cab pickup

Buy it, sell it, negotiate, haggle, drag it out from under the workbench or behind the garage and make it someone else's problem!

For Sale: 1981 Datsun 720 diesel King-Cab pickup

Bought this over 3 months ago because it was a rare find and I could do the work it needed (mostly rust spots to fix and new body/paint work).
Was original owner truck since '81, GRS drivelines in Utah (original owner mechanic owned--WOW)
-125K orig miles
-supposedly they fully rebuilt the diesel motor (couldn't get it started after, truck sat at that point for years)
-all other work has been performed in 2011 since that point
-(4) new shocks
-new battery
-new front brakes
-mitsubishi montero rims, new (snow) tires
-Subaru Brat seats, new seat covers
-other minor stuff, oil hose on engine block
-NEW PAINT JOB

Awesome truck, trans shifts like new.

the bad... just the DPC box
$290 part from Nissan, only major thing wrong. Needs front blinker lense, rear tailgate handle. Small oil leak from old oil pan gasket.

$3,000 cash, its a deal for an original straight and clean title diesel 720!

Does it run? Or is the DPC box so bad off that it still doesn't start?

It runs AWESOME
trans feels like new

I know the DPC box does assist with starting. Sometimes it starts real quick, sometimes it take a couple seconds longer cranking, but it always starts ok.

There is a temporary wire rigged up to pull, through the passenger firewall, to easily kill the engine when you wish from inside the cab.

We would replace DPC box, and try to keep selling for TOP dollar, we just have no more investment money for this car and need to move on.
(car buddy and I that went in on this truck together, to re-sell)

yes, I am that seller

The truck didn't even reach the amount we had invested (no bids at the very end even with TONS of watchers???).... and the buyer didn't pay a deposit as per terms of the auction, deal was off.

truck still available

Sorry, Datsun truck is SOLD SOLD SOLD

was an awesome truck huh.

My buddy has an '86 Isuzu Pup turbo diesel 4X4 pickup he said he would sell for $2,100 if anyone was interested in that.
(old rusty work truck, but I think it has a great powertrain)
