Nissan SD-23 marine engine has blue smoke at idle but clean at faster speed. Clean at full speed in neutral. Under load at full speed lots of black smoke.
What is my problem with two different colors of smoke at different speeds and loads?
NISSAN SD-23. BLUE SMOKE. BLACK SMOKE.

Blue smoke = oil; likely coming in at idle by rings and/or valve seals.
Black smoke at full throttle = over-injection and/or not enough air to burn the fuel cleanly. Not enough air can be caused by restricted air intake or plugged air cleaner element. Over-injection can be caused by maladjusted smokepoint and linkage on the injector pump.
Long term running with black smoke ruins the rings leading to increased blow-by, harder starting due to compression loss, and increased oil consumption.

The old 'six gun' was as popular as the cell phone in its time and just as annoying when it went off in the Theater.
