hi there,
this is my first post... i recently started driving an '81 720 with the SD22. I'm in Nova Scotia Canada, having trouble finding a good source for engine parts in eastern Canada. Am i alone out here?

The SD22 is not common anymore, and you won't find automotive parts for it other than at Nissan these days. Some parts are available from marine, agricultural, and forklift supply chains.
Having said that, several people have recently purchased hard parts for theirs (pistons, liners, bearings) in the aftermarket. There are a couple of threads about these sources; I recommend you do a lot of reading
