Hi All,
I never new of the term "Crank Pirate" until after I saved a basket case LD28 from getting scraped by a Z280 guy
now Im the Crank Pirate looking for parts,
So I save a LD28 in parts minus crank intake and exhaust manifold, its a v07 block, what does that mean ?
Plan was to start saving for a 4x4 project as a dayley driver to go into a 2000 onwards jeep etc
doesn’t have to be a Jeep but that’s what i've seen in NZ with blown engines going cheap,
and the 2000 onward gets 1 year WOF for the life of the vehicle
the idea is to fit a turbo and inter cooler
maybe look at some LD20t pistons and rods
what exhaust manifold would work ?
can a td42t pump fit or something else with boost compensation ?
does the guy on youtube who fitted the Merc om606 pump chat on here ?
cheers
Brett

Welcome to the forum Brett.
Looks like you have a bit of a project there for sure.
Not exactly sure how or what fits on these beasties that may have fit on something else, and what you can substitute for the items that you are looking for.
The crankshaft I think will be your biggest challenge.
Not sure of the guy you refer to.
Have to be honest, the LD section on here has been pretty quiet for some time now. Not to say no one is visiting it, just no one has made a posting on it for a bit.
Thanks for posting the pictures of what you were able to salvage.
Did you get everything minus the crankshaft. Injectors, push rods, main caps, rockers etc etc all there ?
Paul

Hi Paul.......god sorry mate here I was thinking this forum is very slow and I never got email notification for some reason......
Hay thanks heaps for the reply.........and thanks for the Welcome......
yes I got every thing minus crank, inlet and exhaust manifolds, sump pickup,
Good news is from my hunting around I have found another two engines, one car was used as a parts car complete minus front end wheels etc ( has LD28)
the other I just posted as my first going LD28 in the white C32 Laurel,
found some small rust so repairing that today to get its warrant of fittest but it run very well,
the guy I got it from is 87 and he did not want to fix it, he was a diesel mechanic so oil changes every 10k so I was told ( its done 280ks)
I was reading the specs of these cars new and urban city driving you can get upto 970ks per tank ?

There are/were a couple of members on here from kinda your neck of the woods. Australia. Davehoos is one that comes to mind. Haven't seen him on here for quite a while though. You may want to search the member list and see if any of the email addresses are still good for him. He has a number of Nissan projects at the time and no doubt has some Nissan parts sources.
Keep us posted how your project goes too.
My email notifications aren't working either so I just come in and check once a week.
