Wheel & tire questions

Hey everyone,

I bought an 1981 diesel 720 a few years back and its been a task to get it running. When I bought it i knew nothing about cars, and i still don't know much. But I work on it as often as I have money to, and i love the thing (when it works)

I recently got it running again after a long run of problems that dominoed but, I need new tires. Problem is, every tire on the truck has different specs on it's sidewall. And they're all ST (trailer tires) that the dude before me slapped on it in order to pawn it off on whoever didn't know better. The back wheels don't even fit the truck. Last owner made a crappy attempt to make his own spacers out of washers in order to force fit them and now I want to do it right.

Can anyone tell me what size wheel/tires I need for this truck? Every time I look online I can't find any information. Help please!

The tire size on my 1973 Datsun 620 is 185/75/14. This era of 620 came with a different designation, which I think was 7:00/14 or 7:35/14, but the closest size to that I think is 185/75/14. I googled the tire size for a 1981 Nissan 720 and came up with 185R14/B, which is basically a 185/75R/14 in a 4 ply rated tire. I personally prefer using a 6 ply rated tire on a small pickup or van because of the load rating is higher for the occasional load carried.

My 1987 D21 had 195/75/14 LT. Yokohama I think still make them. That being said. If I had to go looking for wheels I would look for 15's as there is a far bigger selection of LT tires. Vehicle will roll easier as well but you may lose a bit of your mechanical advantage with ability to get it going as quickly. Your not gonna shatter any 0-60 times anyway.
