New SD22 from Soot Fart finally installed in forklift

SD diesels were widely available in the US in the 1981-86 Datsun/Nissan 720 pickups, and in Canada through '87 in the D21 pickup.

I know of no way to mount an SD22 flywheel on an SD25 engine, otherwise I would have done it myself, I just checked and it appears I scrapped that SD22 flywheel without the ring gear.

That is odd. My engine (SD25) appears to have the spaced out pattern similar to the SD22 flywheel in your photos. It must be something with the special use engines. From what I'm seeing my method may still work. I'll try to post some photos.

I just read this again, I looked at your reply with the measurements, I am confused yet again, so do you have any flywheel for this engine that will fit, can you use the one you measured?

Your measurements appear to be at angles, yes you centered one end, but the other is at an angle and it is hard to tell the true measurement, I would not send out a part/flywheel without exact measurements center to center including the flange size.

I found an extra SD22 flywheel that appears to be close, but it is an automotive flywheel.

Could you have an automotive flywheel modified to work with what you want to do, if it was taken to a machine shop could it be turned down and drilled to do what you have in mind?

The measurements were just for reference to show that the holes were fairly wide in comparison to the prior SD25 flywheel shown. The flywheel I have won't work for my application. I have been trying to find a Stationary/marine flywheel so I can be sure my housing/starter/flywheel combination will all work together. Trying to make an automotive flywheel work has been sort of my backup plan but it's looking more like the only option at this point.

Have you tried a forklift repair shop/place?

They sold a lot of Datsun/Nissan forklifts, maybe places like that may work on all sorts of engines, maybe even marine engines.

Greetings Wayneosworld,
wondering if you have any inside info on where I can get the SD22 KIKI injection pump diaphragms ? ? ? The engine I am putting in my 2000 Somoma would not idle which led me to checking
the diaphragm.....which was found to be totally gone.....If you would see fit to PM me a phone number I would give you a call on my project
Have fun,
buckshot
