Saw this and thought of you all

Hey all
Been many years and changes over the years since I've been around here, but I always have a soft spot for these cars.

That's why when I saw this auction I was intrigued to see what I believe is a Maxima Diesel sedan! The old guy who must have passed on clearly had a penchant for diesel vehicles, he had an Isuzu P'up diesel (up to $1100 with no title!) a couple Peugeot diesel cars (504 / 505) and a plethora of Dodge diesel trucks, a Lasharo turbo diesel and probably many more! There might also be other Nissan diesel vehicles, and I plan to go up for the preview on the 11th. Clearly one bidder is intending on scrapping the bulk of these multi-car lots, of which the Maxima is one.

Have a look around, I see a Sentra too and maybe a 720 pickup, both of which might also be diesel!

Auction:

Maxima is in lot 70, the other cars / trucks are distributed throughout the multi-car lots.

Enjoy looking around!

Based on the hood ornament I'm going to guess that it's an '84.

EDIT: Wrong, hood ornament is the early type, 81/82, don't know why I thought it was later.

Hey folks
So I went to the auction preview, the weather was not nice, it got colder through the afternoon.

I ran around the surveyed what I could but it was hard to get to some of the vehicles, but it was clear that this guy like diesels and so many of the junked cars on his 6.6 acre property (in town) were diesel.

A few more pics of the Maxima, but excuse me for having not gotten any from inside, I had just gotten there and was trying to survey the whole place before viewing closed at 3pm. I'd specifically wanted to look in the Maxi to see whether it was AT or MT (much more rare) and I didn't get it done.

At any rate here's what I found for interesting vehicles besides those set apart for bidding:

At least two Datsun 720 pickup diesel trucks, one extended cab.
At least two Chevy LUV (Isusu P'up) diesel trucks besides the one nice example being auctioned separately.
Two Peugoet diesel cars, 504D and 505TD, the engine from the latter already pulled and being sold on a pallet as 'stuck.' 504 Build date say 3/77.
Chevy Chevette diesel
Ford Ranger with GM 260 RWD diesel V6 dumped in the engine bay (besides the Ford Ranger being sold with diesel conversion, which I didn't see).
At least four Mercedes 190D diesel fintail cars, maybe five.
1978 Olds 98 Regency diesel sedan.
Perhaps three gen 1 Chevy LUV trucks
Gen 2 Celica coupe.
Two or three Chevy Vegas

This is just some of what was there, I had trouble getting to a lot of it since it had been packed together and it was cold.

Unfortunate that they decided to have this auction in the winter, it would have been so much better had they done it during warmer weather AND pulled all the interesting junk out of the piles and sold it individually. For instance, the two Chevy LUV diesel trucks should have been sold individually IMO.

The auction has come and gone, the prices realized were impressive on some of the diesel vehicles. IIRC the Isuzu P'up Diesel brought $2970.

The towing company that won the lot with the Maxima is from down the road a ways and they bring their stuff to the local upull. The Maxima showed up last weekend, along with the 210 and the 310 plus all the other crap in that lot.

If they leave it alone for a while I'll see if I can get it running.

It ended up being a 1981, with AT, 139k miles.
