Another local '83 diesel Sedan

So, I was coming out of the hardware store in our small town on Wed afternoon, and there's a Gen1 Maxima parked in the lot, a pretty rare occurence. I know of three local Gen1s, none of them diesel. I get closer, and this one has diesel badges! Silver repaint, alloys, AT, no sunroof. So I write a note and leave it on the windshield. I start walking away, and the owner returns, we get into a conversation. Turns out she needs a multifunction switch; she has a JY one installed which didn't last very long, and she has has the old one in the trunk. I just happened to have pulled one at a JY and stashed it, so I sold it to her.

Seriously though, it makes you wonder how many of these are still on the road. Reminds me of the one on Ebay that I missed. It was really more of a parts car, but it was 5 miles from my house.

I know, problem was I didn't get an opportunity to even look under the hood before the auction closed. The only thing about that car possibly worth $153 would had to have been under the hood, believe me. I let the buyer know about this site, but to my knowledge they never joined.

I have only had my 83 diesel maxima since the end of March this yr.
I am in Humboldt county, CA
She came with a 6 set of the aluminum wheels(2 with snow studs on em)
a new oil filter, a new fuel filter & a new ip belt(eek!) chg'd at 98k .

Since I bought mine- I have seen one gasser & one diesel- both aresedans like mine and funny- both are "cameo beige" I think that's what the orig window sticker called it(yes I have that too!)
I was right behind the gasser on the road- and thought wow- what are the odds. IT was CLEAN!

Then I saw the diesel going the other way near my home- and it was in bad soot billowing shape- like bad black clouds.
AS in the story in car & driver "battle of the diesel beaters"
I felt sad for it!

Mine has ssssssoooooooo many miles- lets see 263k +
but my Maxi only blows soot when I push her going up a hill (l I was learning to drive a diesel) ouch.

She is beautiful! The interior is rather fine except for a bit of damage from that wicked sun. exterior is nearly perfect (for her age!)

til I had this wiring harness corrosion issue we were cruising along with a luxurious all power set-up even the cr control & a/c works..
(or did)! but alas nasty sounding radio / short?

I love my Maxima it is old, and it is badly oxidized on the outside- but I just know she's got a heart of gold and I love her for it-

of course, as soon as my kid w/ the digi camera comes "out this way" -(10 miles) to see her mom!

Her boyfriend is the mechanic in the family so they are gonna stop by to check out my wire corrosion nightmares- the farther i look the worse it gets- lucky I love my maxi so much...
