Door Hinge Adjustment

#1

Post by moose60 »

My doors had sagged a bit over the years, resulting in an unsatisfying 'clunk' when ever I closed 'em. It's pretty simple to pull out the inner fender to access the hinge mounting bolts. Then it will only take a few minutes with a 12mm box end wrench (assuming the hinges are not super trashed), and your doors will close nicely again. Just loosen 'em, lift the door, and tighten 'em.

my driver side is a little saggy. i will give it a try when it stops raining.

have you, or anyone else on the board, put a jump seat in datsun king cab? there are bucket seats and an ok amount of space. i have a 2.5 year old and i would like to install a fold out seat and belt. i would like to do it before christmas so we can all take the pickup to a tree farm. my brother in law's extended cab ford ranger had a jump seat. it worked great for little passengers.

Both of my '82 KCs had factory jump seats.

with seat belts? That's good news. i am fairly tall so it didn't occur to me that the xtra room would be for anything more than storage.

Now that I can't recall. I think so, but I'll have to see if I still have pics of the first one, or maybe it's shown in the sales brochure (I have a couple of those somewhere).

Yup, the 1984 720 Owners Manual clearly shows and discusses seat belts for the jump seats. The 1981 720 Owners Manual doesn't. I can't lay my hands on the manuals for the years in-between.

I'd say, go to a JY and pull 'em.

good advice. i posted in the other forum about a repower. it looks like the cab of the truck may be unsafe for further driving. i do a detailed inspection this weekend.

You already know that I'm putting an '82 diesel engine/trans/fuel tank in an '86 720 gasser (soon). It's by far the easiest swap. George in BC put an SD2x in a Mazda PU a few years back, claimed it was pretty simple -- "simple" being relative. I think that he said the Mazda was about an '87 and it may have been 4WD. George is not a member here.

thanks for sharing your knowledge. is your 86 a 4wd? my parents live on a mountain. i like to go help them out and in the winter i need something with fun wheel drive to get up to them.
Do you know off hand if the pathfinder innards are similar to like yeared (hardbodies?) pickups?

No. It's not really my project, I just happened to have had both trucks through my hands.

I don't know. Perhaps someone else here does.
