Nissan CABSTAR / Atlas F22 Engine

#1

Post by dodo »

Hello,

i bought a Nissan Cabstar F22 with 51kw and want to upgrade the engine, because i need torque. I will use it as a recovery truck.

I thinked about swap the engine with a TD27 or a TD27 with Turbo. But im afraid if the differential and the transmission can bear this torque.

I also read about Turbo upgrades, but can the TD23 engine bear the pressure ?

Thanks for you help.

Cheers

What part of the world.

TD32 cabstar.
has the gearbox got a hand brake on the drive shaft.this is an option and if the original box hasnt its a normal car/pickup box.if it has it should be beefy.I like the auto option for towing so I would look at any ute or van motors.nissan diesels very slow without a turbo.the TD23 with cood cooling and oil cooling for the pistons would be good with a turbo for a few years.

the only book i have for F22 is 1988.
TD32 had a banjo H190A or a H233B.the 190 is a car diff and copes with 3.0 engine.the 233 ins the bullet proof patrol diff that you be able to get up grades for.the TD27 has a C200 option that you get with high powered cars and the pickups.

My choise would be a TD27T out of a pickup or a van.i think the van engine is the easiet conversion and some have a water to air intercooler.

lots of TD27 around so i dont think its worth will changing to a V6 or V8.

Hello,

first THANKS for you help.

i am from AUSTRIA/Europe :D

I looked my papers and the Engine Code is TD 23-040 151

The car is really a working horse. but its very slow.

Yes there are many TD27 engines around.

There are many different TD27 engines. Which will give the best result to me. TD27Ti ? i also need a low consumption :D

I will also look for a Patrol Y61 differential.

a gent on here is from austria-he has experience with you bizzar diesel road laws.he has said that you can drive these old cars into city area as they are dangerous.if you frive past a tree it might die.[antigreenhumour  ] and as it hasnt got stability contol and air bag you may not be able to steer it.

the numbers are the engine number
TD 23 type -040 151 manufacture serial number.IE

on the japanese build plate will be a TRANS-code IE RSW571B
and final drive code HC43 [H190B]-C?43[salisbury] RC43 [IRS].the number is the ratio the letter is the type.

organist the engine first before you get a diff the original will do if your not into burnouts.LSD diff is hard to find for the small axle.

RD28 patrol often have a 4.3:1 axle.

TD27T electronic made in spain may be your option due to you conversion laws.its fly by wire etc etc.in australia i would throw the eletrics in the bin and fit an older injector pump.intercoolers are good.
jap imports are common here so that would be my best option.the VAN has a square sump my guess is you truck is the same.the van has low profile-the inter cooler hangs off the back.

other options are the newer larger 3.0 diesels-small van LD20T/CD20T
.if there is room behind the cab a TD42 patrol-civillian engine is cheep grunt..the larger cabstars also use an ED33-FD35-large old 4 cyl diesel common put into early landrovers from the H40 cabstar.

do a google==Nissan F22 workshop manual.
lots around including online.what you have to look for is they dont list TD23 as it is an update on a SD23.you may need a later manual that covers the Z engines.

the book at work only covers a few updates on the ED33 civilian.

yahoo japan also is good for japanese language manuals.f22 might be rare.
