Driveshaft Question
I searched through the forum and cant seem to find the info that I want.
I googled a number of places and still cant find the info.
My question is:
Does anyone know if the drive shaft from a 720 king cab diesel is the same as the drive shaft used in the D21 king cab diesel.?
I am in search of a spare drive shaft to rebuild and still be able to drive my truck in the mean time.
Thanks
Paul

Did some research today at Nissan with an "Oh So Patient" parts man that I have come to know and I bring him and the parts dept. pastries from time to time
( donuts actually, freshly baked and still warm).
Long story short and I post for future users.
1986 and 1987 D21 SD25 Diesels have a drive shaft specific to them.
1986 720 SD25 is, according to Nissan not the same
1986/87 D21 4cyl gas and V6 gas are not the same, again, according to Nissan.

There is very little traffic in the diesel section. That is the reason you need to post under General. Initially, just ask it as a "need help with repairing/replacing a driveshaft", something to that effect. You will get help.
Between this site and that site, there is a lot of help available.

Doing it is easy albeit fiddly, finding a proper doner piece is the tricky part.
The 86/87D21 SD25's only came to Canada and finding a dead one aint really all that easy.
I was kind of hoping that the 86 720 SD25 had the same shaft but it does not.
That limits my search to Canada and, actually western Canada, so that shipping does not make it prohibitive as I can drive and get it.
Drive shaft rebuilders want $550.00+ to re-do mine.
I can buy the U-joints for $50.00 ( for all 4) and the center brg for another $40.00.
If I had a doner piece I could to it and then just swap it out.
The fiddly part is that the U-joints in the D21 SD25 are "staked" which makes it time consuming to do that's all.
Die grinding, flat filing, etc. etc.
My search continues
