hmph forgot i had a post here, well at 190,000 miles it started misfiring heavily even when warmed up.. one of the injectors failed.
tips are heavily eroded
My injector pump was also leaking like a sive, luckily i found a brand spankin new one from a local packrat and got it for 200 dollars.

Timing set at 1.00mm.
Setting the injection timing on the cd17 is an interesting endeavour, you have to take out the rear water pipe, thermostat housing, injector lines, starter wires, and other surrounding wires.
The diesel shop I had sent my injectors to bead blasted my injector housings which took off the plating so i painted them to prevent corrosion.
She runs amazingly well now but still needs the valve clearance adjusted, 3 of the valves are out of spec and 2 others have no clearance.

found a really low mileage(from rebuild) rn4 on thursday, that has been sitting on a shelf for 9 years, or at least that was what was claimed by the seller, i dont believe him... There is some rust on the differential bearing from sitting for such a long time but otherwise its a nice looking transmission.
