FS (UT): 1982 720 King Cab Diesel Pick-Up,

Buy it, sell it, negotiate, haggle, drag it out from under the workbench or behind the garage and make it someone else's problem!

I have a 1982 datsun pick-up for sale that my father bought new. It has spent the last 12 years in New Mexico and before that it was in Oregon. I drove this truck to Heber, Utah in May with the intention of doing a complete restoration on the body and frame. I have put $450 in ball joints, front tires, and shocks on it. Time and money have gotten in my way and I have decided I will not be able to finish it any time soon. It got 41 miles to the gallon on the drive to Utah. I drive it once a week just to keep it going. It has 141,000 miles on it and has never been wrecked. It has dents and scrapes on it and a little rust but no serious or deep rust. I would like to sell this car for $2000, any comments, suggestions?

Sorry to hear that you won't be completing your repairs. They are rewarding trucks with few weak areas.

I take it the truck is in Utah now?

Your price may be in line with the market where you are; out here in the PNW it might be priced a bit high, but cosmetics play a big role in market value when it comes to used vehicles.

Al, thanks for the reply. I don't want to make a killing on the truck but I don't want to give it away either. I was not sure what it was worth. The money I get will go to my father, less the parts I put into it. I'm in the middle of restoring an open cockpit Bi-Plane which will probably take me another 3 years. I had to decide, plane or truck. The truck needs to go to someone who will make good use of it and fix it up, I didn't want it to sit around for years. A guy called me today who wants to look at it Thursday. If he wants it he will get a good deal. John
