CL Seattle: 83 nissan maxima [gasser] - $100

Buy it, sell it, negotiate, haggle, drag it out from under the workbench or behind the garage and make it someone else's problem!

We dismantled this car today. It was bronze exteriour, tan/brown interiour and in quite good condition overall. Factory sunroof. Sat for two years, so the usual Coastal moss & mold, nothing that couldn't have been cleaned up. No major dents, no rust. It goes to the scrapyard on Monday, with the L24e still in the bay. I could have easily have made this one a runner -- but no interest, and Denise had it advertised for over a month with no takers. It is about two hours' drive away from me.

Dale (a 620 PU guy) wanted the L4N71B trans to convert his 3N71B to OD, so he pulled it and the driveline, the window motors, door locks motors, and shifter, reman starter (won't work on LD28).

Carimbo got the half-shafts, rear calipers & rotors, instrument cluster w/clock and four-gauge setup, cassette player, wiper motor & linkage, trunk weatherstrip, taillight assys.

I got the hood (to replace my sat-on hood on the burgundy '82 Wagon), the RF fender (for the rusty RF fender on the yellow '83 Wagon, but it has no antenna hole), the Ign lock/switch, multifunction switch, door locks, gas flap lock, radio, perfect crackless cluster cover and glovebox dashpad (to replace very cracked one in the '83 Wagon), four Sedan factory alloy wheels (w/o center caps though, but with the special lugs), fuel injection pump (is external to the fuel tank on Gen1 Maximas), driver's side power mirror (just because; pass side was damaged), front turn sig assys (driver's side has minor cracks but is usable), the Talking Lady module of course, fuses, engine relays panel & fusible link setup (many relays are the same as the diesel's), and the wheel arch trim all around. My public Thanks to Carimbo for actually removing the fender and fuel pump -- I was getting fagged.

Of the good parts, Nobody took those beautiful doors or the glass I'd pulled out of the fronts, door panels, inside rearview mirror, nothing from the L24e (alternator, new belts, new plug wires, new dist cap, new plugs), good rear bumper, windshield and backlight, sunroof motor, visors, front rotors & calipers. All speakers were left behind. Spare L3N71B (3N71B?) that nobody wanted (provenance unknown: did it come from a truck? Car? Which car? Was it a working unit? Nobody knows. Left it in the trunk.). Two ECUs. Two MAFs. Electronic dist. for converting an old 240/260/280Z. IRS differential. Sad but true.

The steering rack was shot, the engine supposedly would idle but wouldn't accelerate (but I couldn't find anyone who wants it, I even volunteered to pull it out), Carimbo says the radiator had gunk in it. The fusebox cover seemed to be missing. Back seat was dirty. That's all that was wrong with it that I could see. I just kick myself, dismantling these things, but I just cannot take on another car, I'm car-poor right now. At least some of the parts are salvaged.

If anyone needs anything off my list above, let me know; for my two Wagons, I'm keeping the RF fender, hood, dash covers; the rest can make their way somewhere else.
Regards,
Al S.
