Auction 320238043504, ends Apr-16-08 09:37:46 PDT
I have a 1976 scout with the nissan 3.3 turbo diesel engine. I bought it for a project that I was going to do. I was going to install the diesel engine in a 4x4 pickup for plowing my driveway and general use. But I have found that I just can't seem to find the time or energy to do this. The body of this scout is not in the best of shape as the picture show. The engine runs perfect. It smokes for awhile until it warms up then doesn't smoke. The clutch either needs adjusting or should be replaced. As it engages right as the clutch starts being released. The tires are not great and should be replaced. An adventuresome person might drive this to wherever it will be taken but I would tow it myself. It has an ether injector for starting in cold weather that works. I have never checked the glow plugs to see if they need replacing. As I said I bought this for a project and just drove it up and down the road and to town once for fuel. But it does run good when warmed up. Please feel free to ask any questions and I will try and answer them to the best of my ability. Thanks for bidding and needless to say there is no warranty. For got to add this should get over 20 MPG as the diesel engine is small if you chose to swap it into something else as I was planning. Externally the engine appears to to be about the same size as a 300 cid Ford six.

Question & Answer
Q: are you sure this is a 76 model scout Apr-13-08
A: We fianally got a nice day and I went out and looked at the data plate on the vehicle and it was built on the 7th month of 1978 so it may be listed as either a 78 or 79. I haven't dug through my files yet to see what year it is titled as but will do so tonight. I am sorry about the mistake on my part.

Q: Hi, It appears that the valve cover(nissan diesel+blue)is from a 1980 turbo motor. Looks like the injector pump+lines also.(can't see the p/u pump in pic to see if there is a hand pump)looks like the motor was painted. The turbo looks to be an aftermarket unit. Any signs of yellow paint on the motor? The intake+exhaust manifolds are from a naturally aspirated motor. Any other motor pics? Apr-13-08
A: Not that I can see no other pictures of the motor and to be honest I did not know that 80 was the year for the turbo motor

Q: Hello, I don't know enough about these scouts, I was wondering if the top comes off? Thanks Apr-13-08
A: I think it unbolts but haven't paid that much attention to that myself

Q: Is it a 4 speed? Is the air conditioner all there? If I buy it I plan on putting it in my 76 does the transfer case and the rest of the drive train work? Apr-13-08
A: Yes it is a 4 speed and the rest of the drive train does work. Don't know for sure about the air conditioner as most likely it has leaked over the years but didn't check it so don't know

Q: Howdy- Being that it is a 76, is the engine from an 80? that's the only year the turbo was offered Thanks Apr-10-08
A: I did not know that but if you look at this engine compartment it looks pretty stock to me. I believe I am the 3rd owner but i know the second owner and he didn't say anything about an engine swap but then maybe he didn't know. To make a long story short I don't have any answer to your question.

Q: You have 74 and 76 as the model year. You also have other on title. Do you have a clear title and what year is it? Apr-09-08
A: It is a 76 and I have a clear title I must have typed in the wrong number I will try and correct that in the add.

Q: Hi. Being from Mn are the floor pans, frame etc. rusted to the extent the motor would best be removed and put in another truck? Does the 4 wheel drive work ? Oil leaks etc.? Steering? tks chuck Apr-09-08
A: The floor pans seem ok and the 4 wheel drive works fine. It doesn't seem to be a lot of leaks but then I haven't driven it for 50 miles or so. It does steer good at least in my opinion as it seemed fine ging into town for fuel. The rocker panels are shot though. I think it would have to be the buyers decisien whether to put the drive train in a western or southern truck.
