Air Intake Vacuum

#1

Post by windsock »

Hi all,

Just been thinking fuel line vacuum recently and how useful knowing that information has proven to be and got to wondering whether anyone out there also monitors their air intake vacuum levels. I often find myself in very dusty conditions and the air filter is swapped out more often than would normally be the case.

If I installed a vacuum gauge on the intake side of the air filter, I guess I would get an idea of clogging of the filter over time. More hassle than it is worth or a modification worth considering while I plumb in a fuel line vacuum anyway?

Cheers,

Phil

You want a filter minder for the intake. You usually don't need to know immediately when the filter is restricting. The minder "locks" at peak (usually WOT and rev'd up). I had one on my '83 G30 van w/6.2l diesel and it worked quite well.

Hi Al,

That looks interesting. Never seen anything like that in all my driving years mate. What is it and how does it work and where does it go exactly. Any easy www links?

Cheers
