Pull off the head. Let's put up a vote: the broken tip is still in the pre-combustion chamber unless it finally falls out while you're lifting the head. The upside is that you WILL have the broken piece out of the combustion chamber(s).

The hand pump can be replaced with an improved version that does not leak. It is available from mercedes parts suppliers. You want the pump that does not unscrew-it sticks up all the time. Well worth the $14.
Good work on getting the thing out. I think I used a "customized" 16d nail, and maybe a large screw/bolt to loosen up those washers. They were a real pain in the butt.

Nah... I have to move within two weeks and OFI sent me the wrong washers (despite that I gave them the exact dimensions). I'll have to get to those washers later ... Thanks Byron and Al for the tip on the Bosch primer.philip wrote:

I am in the process of having my injectors rebuilt on my sd22. When I pulled them out, they had only the tip sealing washer. I pulled some injectors out of an sd25 at the wreckers and they had the tip washer and the larger sealing washer. I am currently running the sd25 injectors in my sd22 with both washers installed. After reading this post, if I understand it correctly, I should use ONLY the tip sealing washer? Can someone please confirm this. And is the sd25 supposed to have both washers? And I can use the sd25 style tip washers in the sd22, correct? Thanks for all the help.

Haven't found sd25 style yet, reused the washers that were in there short term. Will do some searching tomorrow and see what I can find out. I have the sd22 installed in a 87 suzuki samurai, running 31 inch tires and stock 3.73 gears along with the nissan 5 speed. On my first tank of fuel I averaged about 24 mpg. I though I would get better but the large tires could be hampering that. In your experience with these engines what kind of mileage should I obtain with this set up? Much more power than the stock 1.3 litre suzuki motor. Been working on it for a year now and just got it on the road. The rebuilt injectors should help me out also. Time will tell. Thanks. Norm
