FS: Wagon in Yakima, Wash, >$250

Buy it, sell it, negotiate, haggle, drag it out from under the workbench or behind the garage and make it someone else's problem!

FS: Wagon in Yakima, Wash, >$250

When Myrna gave me my '83 Wagon last month, she mentioned that there is another one for sale in the area, and I asked her to check it out, which she's done:
If you remember, hopefully the evening with folklife ddn't turn your
brain to absolute mush, I mentioned there was another diesel wagon on a car lot.

Happened to stop by there today, because the wind chill finally got
above zero and the sun was shining, and it is still right where I last saw
it. Not looking any better I might add, but now that the winter has killed the
weeds, it is viewable without a machete. As it has all glass intact I
regard it as a viable parts car.

Owner's sister called him and asked how much and he said, make an offer.
Last time I asked, he wanted $250, but I would bet he would just like
to see it go away for much less.

It's at a used car place called SWITZER MOTORS, 1802 Fruitvale Blvd.
(509)248-6687, I believe the owner's name is Larry Switzer.
It's not really close to me. I don't have any demand for another one right now, so if someone wants to chase this, have at!
Regards,
Al S.

I called about it, it's a 1982 wagon, blue, so according to Al's information it should be 3 spd. auto tranny. I haven't called back for specifics yet but I'll post those when I do.

Crankshaft, intake, GP timer, driveshaft, harmonic balancer, shift console, doors, dash pad . . . that thing's a gold mine of parts.

It's all about perspective. Are you familiar with the phrase, "Go ugly early"?

Looks like a repaint, and no fender arch trim. The polished alum. rear window surround is odd. Someone took the black paint off.

All-in-all, well worth $100 if the engine is intact. If the rust situation is good, might even be worth an interiour transplant. I've got a set of brown buckets in good condition. I could have pulled much of a brown leather interiour from a 1984 gasser Sedan in a JY.

IOW, just because there's a lot of crap on the seats and they're ripped up and the GB is on the floor and the column plastic is off and a couple of ugly hubcaps are gone, don't assume it's not a good candidate for revival.

Al S.

What I meant to say and didn't specify, was that the interior was nasty. The rest of it actually looks decent.

I agree, My 86 Golf D started out similarly, sitting for over five years in a barn, then outside the barn, with a new fender left in primer that became worthless, and a gazillion mice living in it. Now it's a decent piece of transportation. Someone stopped while I was out in the yard the other day and asked if I would sell it.

I said no because it's my primary transportation and gets 49/50 mpg and is more comfortable to drive for me then my 97 Jetta TDI. Besides, although they said they had "cash" I don't think it was probably enough.

Here she is now!
