Injector thread size/pitch

SD diesels were widely available in the US in the 1981-86 Datsun/Nissan 720 pickups, and in Canada through '87 in the D21 pickup.

Injector thread size/pitch

Hello, new to the group......I have a few questions to ask but I am going to start off with (hopefully) an easy one. I am trying to verify the thread size and pitch of the SD22 injectors. There is a guy on eBay selling compression test adapters and he has one for "Datsun" that is 24mmx2. I am hoping that it would fit my SD22.

Welcome. :)

Al assembled a Compression Adaptor set using the glow plug hole.

Do replace the tip sealing washer before you reinstall the injectors.

I measured the thread OD on one of my spare injectors and it was 23.7 mm. Pitch was 2 mm.

Phil, I bought one of the same injector adapters from El Paso Tools on eBay, 24mm, and the (integrated) nipple on the end is some bastard size that doesn't fit my Snap-On and Parker-Hannafin hydraulic quick-connect fittings on my compression gauge. Also, it appears to me that the check valve (Schraeder-styel) is NFG on mine.

How is it working for you?

eBay adapter

Haven't tried mine yet as engine is all apart. The seller warned me about the wierd adapter before I purchased. I just chucked it in my lathe and faced it off, followed by cutting a 1/8 F NPT and installation of a standard Q.D. fitting. The other day I was eyeballing a diesel compression test set at harbor freight and it appears to have a non-standard q.d. as well. Just something to remember....

It looks like I may have to lathe the fitting smaller -- there's plenty of material there to do it. I'm negotiating for someone here with the facilities to mod it for me.
