are the scout SD manuals applicable to my truck?

No. In general, not even close. Maybe the valve lash setting procedure, and possibly the DPC system, if the Scout used it (I have no real evidence whether they did or not; perhaps Corey or Philip will chime in).

Otherwise, the IH SD literature is sure to be confusing and misleading.
