Al. It's Columbus Day. What it doesn't feel like a special day? (I know. I had to work too.)
Terry - Your best bet for a manual for the SD22 or the truck it came from (your most likely candidate) is going to be ebay. Bar none.

Terry, the valve clearance spec is in the SD2x Valve Adjust thread.
Injector opening pressure ("pop" pressure for new nozzles (1982 SD22 spec) is 1493-1607 PSI. Service limit for used nozzles is 1422 PSI. We still don't know what year your engine is, or if it's for a truck or ag pump or marine use, so I don't know if that spec applies to your engine. If you remember, update your Signature (click on Profile at the top of any page) and add basic info about your engine or truck to your Signature, and nobody will have to ask again.
eBay is where I get FSMs; I run a "canned search" for them every week, and buy FSMs that noone bids on. The 1982 720 pickup Factory Service Manual is fairly common, as is the 1983. Much less common is 1981 because all the diesel information is in a separate Diesel Supplement manual which almost never comes up for sale anymore. The 1983 FSM covers the SD22 and SD25 so it's OK, though the instrument cluster is different, I think. The 1984 FSM does not cover the SD22 anymore, so if you have an SD22, stick with the 1982, 1983, or the rarer combo 1982-83 FSMs.
Right now, there is not a single 720 FSM for auction at eBay, nor any in eBay Stores. That's unusual, there's usually a couple out there. I post links to them (when I remember to) in The eBay FSMs thread. Sometimes they go pretty cheap, like $10 shipped.
I own one of each 720 FSM, from 1980 to 1986. Some years I have multiples, and I sell them when needed. I have an extra 1982 720 FSM right now in Portland (I shipped the wrong manual to a member). If you are patient, you can get one from eBay cheap, but if you need one right now, I can have that member send it to you, $25 including USPS Media Rate shipping.
If you have a 720 pickup with the SD engine, you must have a FSM to diagnose and maintain the GPC and DPC systems; they are not like other diesels and it's hard to bring experience with other diesels to bear on them.
Finally, I have the entire electrical section (Section "EL") of the 1982 720 FSM online here. I don't know when, or if, I'll ever get around to adding the rest of the manual, it's very time-consuming to do right.
