Ooh boy, sharp looking rims on that car. That is a nice looking ride and the front end is clearly different, but is better in some ways than our 81-84 Maximas. I've always liked our four square headlights though and not sure if I'd like just one. Plus those single headlights are probably made out of plastic and after a while they turn yellow preventing you from seeing well at night. In a lot of ways you gotta love the four glass headlights that rarely ever go bad.

It's not that I don't like the square lamps, I just don't like that their terribly poor for light, the europeans do it and have done it so much better for so long.

In this case these are not plastic, they are a single glass lens bonded to a chrome plated reflector housing, each "headlight" has both H4 and H1 bulbs inside. There are essentially two reflectors or what the French call "double parabole" inside each lamp assembly, one for the H4 (HI/LO) and one for the H1 (HI). The glass lens is molded with a pattern that directs the light in a particular direction, for LHD (US) it is "dipped" to the left of the car so as to avoid blinding oncoming drivers. They are really quite nice to drive with. RHD performs in the opposite manner, that's why it doesn't work to buy RHD euro headlights for LHD cars etc.

I do like that Blue sedan!

head lights.there was some funny regulations in the USA regarding imports.I was told that it was pollitical at the time.
the light had to be a sealed beam type.halogen sealed beams that are common in the USA at that time i cant say that ive seen here.only the H1/H4 conversion.same as the modern american cars have some odd shaped bulbs.ive seen cars parked waiting for weeks to get bulbs replaced.

head tight patterns.
there are a few different types.obviously LHD/RHD.but there are traffic lights[taxi] with a flat hi beam of 65w and a low beam pointed into the gutter at 55w i use on on the passenger side to spot roos. .
the japanese/series 1/2 [stanley] light is glass and has the large hook of light away from the traffic.it only has the one H4 with a 5W park light for aust and others have a 5/21W to use as a fog light.

the taxi has 4 round lights very low watts factory.

it the 1980's in australia it was decided to go away from sealed beam style.the opel comodore and a euro falcon went on sale as a big hit.
75W lights became standard with most having 100w and relay kits fitted by the dealers.alternators over night doubled in size.a lot of head lights simpley cant handle the heat,the new plastic types are only good for a short time,but they are cheep..some of the light manufactures won awards for for design.big news here at the time.
