The things it has going for it are the 5-spd and the new parts. It's not a looker. Pretty sells.

1982 Datsun / Nissan Maxima Diesel
220, XXX Miles
4 door, 5 speed, 6 cylinder, about 25 to 30 mpg and can use biodiesel
The Maxima for its year was meant to be a luxury car and was built accordingly. This one has power windows, leather seats (or imitation) and comes with four wheel independent suspension and disk brakes all around. This also has working and blowing cold air conditioning! The five speed I understand is a rare option as I know for sure if this car had the automatic for the extra comfort, it would have slowed it down just a bit too much.
These engines look like (or they are exactly like) the L28 gas engines you see in the 280Z cars. I understand these diesels are rated to pull upwards of 5000 pounds, but should not in this type of a wheel base. Lots of power on the road for a non turbo engine. I've owned a few diesel cars (Mercedes, Volvo, Mitsubishi, etc.) but I have to say this one has impressed me the most. A lot of the cars you'll find with diesel will be 4 or 5 cylinder either turbo or not turbo version so its really nice having this size of motor for this car.
O.K., we'll start with the good: recent replacement of the starter, alternator, radiator, battery terminals, ignition switch, set of used tires, lower control arms and ball joints. This is roughly $700 in repairs. Has a solid feel down the road and current plates. Starts right up with only a minimal amount of smoke, then it goes away. Motor hums in the cradle with only the slightest of shake. With a couple of things checked, I would feel fine driving this across country.
Now, for the not so good; turn signals and hand brake not working. Also, the car drives well, but these other items would help to bring more comfort; cracked windshield, seats and dash are cracked, some minor rust at seams (rear), could use an alignment to get steering wheel back on center, could use shocks, need to slam drivers door to close completely, ding in trunk lid. And hey, I'm being honest about condition so as not to waste yours or my time, not an invitation for lowballers.
Title is clear, unbranded and in my name. If you have any questions (I'm sure I missed some things here I can update later) please call the number below or click email link above. This car would be a great candidate for bio diesel, WVO, SVO or get it from the pump through http://www.sqbiodiesel.com and they have a list of locations. Also, please look at this with proper expectations. It shows that its a 25 year old car. If your a real fan of these cars, see: http://nissandiesel.dyndns.org for more info as this site is a fairly local source of very good information.
$1299 or make your best cash offer. I was planning an engine swap into a Datsun wagon, but plans have changed and trying to recoup some of my costs (a potential donor body was listed in Newberg a while back for $500 that went unsold). With the price of diesel cheaper than gas, this would be saving you fuel costs from your first tank. Or you could brew your own or use straight or waste vegetable oil (straight I believe around $2.50gal at some super stores). Or keep as a driver or part out but buyer gets to drive it home. Motor as a power plant potentially worth $1500, transmission $300, radiator was $400, starter and alternator was around $200 plus, new ignition switch was $50 and there are the other parts that can be sold off.

I've had this up a few times in the past and the last posting was pulled so the staff must be getting tired of seeing it (lol).
Anyway, to keep the bandwidth usage off the servers, I've put up the information on the car on my server and you can find it by copying and pasting the link in your browser (or click on it to follow to the information) its: http://www.gervais.com/valleyfab/datsun.htm and you can see several pictures and a very (some say 'overly') detailed description of what is being offered. I did not change the ad to reflect an update on pricing, but I'll bottom line this so its easy: $900 cash, current tags, clear & clean title in hand and ready to drive.
