ld20 and ld20II difference?

What is the difference of this two? and is there any difference in PI
timing?

Member davehoos may be able to shed a lot more light on this, but from my perspective: the cam is chain-driven on the LD20, belt-driven on the LD20II. Oil pump moved from a pseudo-distributor drive on the LD20 to crank-driven on the II.

That's probably all I know.

LD20 C120[might be an old chain drive] 0.74-0.82mm
LD28 0.71-0.79 mm

1988 plunger lift at TDC

LD20II 0.73+/- 0.04mm[0.0287 in]T12/U11/C22

LD20 was a modified petrol engine.

LD20II
cam and cyl head design is improved.
the engine was designed to suit smaller/lighter FWD.

since been replaced with 2 generations of smaller lighter engines.

Dave you montion that the LD20 is a modified gas eng. Do you know what eng. block they took it from. Bob

L20B
you can change a LD20 back into a L20B/Z20.

but it has no oil seporator in the block for the PCV system.it has the casting shape for it.

the block is heavy contruction and from memory the pistons as smaller.
same deal as LD28 block modified to 3 and a bit litre L series drag race turbo's..

common practice to manufacture a diesel based on petrol engine so very little is needed to fit it in a standad model.
