I just dont have another $400 for a crank plus shipping. It looks like that is what they go for though. I think I could have my crank fixed for that, or I could just go back to gas.

You may still find a Maxima Diesel once a while in the JY. Just call every JY in your area every week. Last week i found one by accident here at home in Vancouver. I was looking for something else. Unfortunately the crank pirates dismantled the engine already.

When I started this venture the cranks for a Gasser stroker engine where 200-250.
Now they go for 400+

I blame the Crank Pirates for this rise in cost.

I will call around a bit but I doubt anything will be found. Every once in a great while I run across one complete, but the engines are almost always in bad shape. I will see what I can find.

Possibly the guy bought it for $400 or so, did his polishing job, bought the bearings and is not "fishing" for Scottish buyers like you and me. Most likely he is looking for the "I want the best for my engine" type of person.

Monday I needed a lower control arm for a Toyota Paseo called around, third yard says I don't have it but can get it for $75. I called the yard next to them and got it for $30. So, what do you think is the rest of the story? I assumed the same thing.

That's life, sometimes your the icebreaker and sometimes your the sailboat....choices. Instead of sitting on the porch drinking a beer, go pull a Maxi engine out, get the crank out on the step then put all your stuff away and tell me it isn't worth $400. Something for the part and something for your labor. Or, set on the porch with another beer.

There was a time you could go get a new Hemi Cuda Convertable for about $5000.

well I started this venture years ago because even though the LD was hard to find parts were still reasonably priced in my area. I can afford to fix this problem now... BTW if I was going to pay 800 for a crank I would send mine off to Paeco... They charge 800 to fix it and send it back with better than new surfaces.



I just found a complete engine swap for my car for $800...

So whats my LD worth as is.

I have the Mid sump LD28 with everything but a good crank. I have a good set of rods and pistons. I even have a good lead on a head gasket to anyone interested. The crank needs redone as you can see or a new one can be bought. As seen in above posts. Looks like the cheap side is $400-600 and some can be purchased for $800 but for that you can have mine and send it to Paeco and have the warranty. The oil pan was slightly damaged by the rod that came out, but I am having it repaired so the 5L oil pan that is mid sumped is available.

What should I try and sell this engine for as is.
Let me know what its worth, or if you want it make an offer.

It is currently located in Hollister Ca 95023 at my parents house with the car. I am located in Sacramento.

The 2 extra heads both have rust forming on the bottom. They were on a hard foam shipping pad in my buddies garage for 6 months...

Im asking 850obo for everything, and there are a few random piece not pictures like the priming pump and misc pieces of the glow plug circuit.
